Why join the movement?
Burnout doesn’t care about job titles or industries – it can affect anyone, at any stage of their career, and have detrimental consequences. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Burnout should never be a part of the job.
At Rightsteps, we know that burnout is preventable. But to take the steps to truly break the burnout cycle in organisations across the UK, it requires a united front. Together, we believe that we can create a burnout-free workforce.
Why burnout?
National Mental Health at Work Day is an opportunity to address the real issues that are impacting individuals across the UK. Unfortunately, in many workplaces, burnout has become the norm as it is seen as part of the job. Despite how common it is, burnout carries stigma which can prevent individuals from feeling able to access support.
Burnout isn’t a new thing. The World Health Organization (WHO) has categorised it as an “occupational phenomenon”, and many charities and organisations have already taken steps to raise awareness of burnout and its impact.
For example, Mental Health UK released their annual Burnout Report to understand the current state of burnout in the UK and what can be done to address it. Their 2025 report found that:
1 in 5 workers
needed to take time off work due to mental health struggles caused by stress last year
9 in 10 adults
experienced high or extreme levels of pressure of stress in the last year
45% of UK workers
do not feel plans are in place in their organisation to spot signs of chronic stress and prevent burnout, suggesting they may not be feeling adequately supported by their employer.
