Demonstrates the quality of the learning of the Foundation level mental health eLearning tool and confirms it meets CII member CPD scheme requirements.
By completing the 3 sessions of this accredited Foundation level mental health eLearning tool you can claim 2 CPD hours towards the CII / Personal Finance Society member CPD Scheme.

Introduction
to Mental Health

An overview of common mental health conditions, their main symptoms and how they may affect individuals. We also look at treatment and support options.

After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Explain what is meant by 'mental health'
- Describe some of the most common mental health conditions
- Identify possible signs and symptoms of a person who experiences poor mental health
- Describe ways that you can help increase support for people who experience poor mental health
- Describe ideas that can promote a mentally healthier, non-discriminatory working environment

Managing Conversations

Providing useful skills and strategies for promoting open, honest and effective conversations, including with individuals who are experiencing high levels of distress.

After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Describe different types of communication and how they are used in your workplace
- Identify the skills required for effective communication
- Explain the impact that communication can have on how we are perceived by others
- Identify how effective communication can help during emotionally challenging or difficult conversations
- Reflect on your personal communication skills and identify how these can be further developed and used more effectively

Individual Vulnerability & Crisis Management

Gain confidence and improved communication skills that will help you to respond safely, appropriately and confidently to people experiencing a mental health crisis.

After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Identify and recognise signs, symptoms, and contributing factors of poor mental health
- Be able to identify and decribe what a mental health crisis is
- Identify useful skills and responses that are supportive when responding to people experiencing a mental health crisis, both face to face and on the telephone
- Describe your own needs as well as others and identify helpful wellbeing strategies to help meet these

The Standards also offer clear guidance to insurers in supporting those with prior or existing mental health conditions when they seek insurance cover.

This e-learning platform builds on the ABI’s work on mental health and looks to improve the level of understanding of mental health and available support among advisers and front line staff when engaging with customers who disclose they have a mental health condition.
